You Only Need One Hero to Change the World—But What If You Had 60?

The world is full of inspiring, fearless women. They’ve changed the course of history. They’ve ruled kingdoms (and brought them down). They’ve started global movements to save the planet and humanity. They’ve invented the computer algorithm, the medical syringe, the life raft, the fire escape. You get the point.

It’s more than likely that you know one of these women, and that in more ways than one, she’s changed your life.

These women are everywhere and they’ve got stories to tell.

Find your hero

On October 11, Hootsuite will power World Woman Hour, a global digital celebration dedicated to highlighting inspirational stories of women from all walks of life.

Led by the World Woman Foundation, the socially enabled movement aims to mentor one million women by 2030 and will feature inspiring stories from 60 women, told in 60 seconds—presented together in a powerful 60 minutes of film.

“The goal is to harness digital platforms to engage and empower one million women and girls by 2030 with wisdom, advice, confidence boosters and lessons to follow their dreams and ambitions. We are so excited to be able to use social media for good, and share 60 hero stories of women to drive awareness of women’s and girls’ critical issues globally.”

– Rupa Dash, Co-founder and CEO, World Woman Foundation

In celebration of the International Day of the Girl, the social-first #ShesMyHero campaign aims to inspire a million girls to find a positive role model by 2030 to follow their hearts and ambitions.

Taking aim at the persistent gender gap

Despite progress in recent years, women around the world still face many obstacles, especially pertaining to global gender gaps. According to Hootsuite’s Digital 2020 report, women account for 45% of global social media users, while their male counterparts account for 55%. Similarly, women have a global literacy rate of 83%, compared to a literacy rate of 90% for men.

We are very excited to see it come to life through the power of social.”
