Except this time the bullshit is not some miracle DTC kitchen gadget or a $250 course on how to rank #1 in Google.

The bullshit I want to call attention to just happened at the United States Supreme Court when it reversed Roe v. Wade and set the country on a path to outlawing abortion. We are not here to get into an argument with anyone on the pros and cons of abortion. We are here to play the hand we have been dealt and do what we can to help the women and their families who are going to be the victims of this travesty.

I woke up Friday still reeling from the fact that my wife, Jill, and my two daughters, were just told by their government that they were basically second-class citizens and that the government had more say over what they could do with their own bodies than they did. I spent about an hour bitching to friends and then it occurred to me that complaining would get me absolutely nowhere.

I don’t pretend that anything I do is going to create some kind of mass movement, but mass movements get started by masses starting to move. So I decided why should big companies like Dick’s Sporting Goods and Patagonia have all the fun? If they could quickly put together policies to cover the costs of their team members who need to travel out of state for an abortion, so could we.

Then I saw this tweet by Mike King:

And it occurred to me that there were plenty of others in our tiny huge industry that likely felt like I did. So I started DMing, LinkedInning, Facebooking, texting, and even emailing (who even does that these days?), and this weekend Agencies for Reproductive Rights was born.

We now have 30(!) agencies and consultants who have all agreed to offer abortion travel benefits for team members, not to mention a nice new logo designed by the team over at Boldist:

The only way things get better is to take action. I hope this puts a little dent in the universe which is currently in need of a fair amount of denting.

If you’d like to make a dent, please get in touch.
